Three Whitemarsh Township businesses received public recognition from the Board of Supervisors and Police Department for supporting the annual Cop Camp.

Holod's True Value Home and Garden, Sague Bus Service and Janeway Towing were thanked for what the township described as continued support of the free weeklong program for local youth. The township said on social media Monday, Sept. 21, that the businesses' contributions helped make the camp a memorable experience for participants.

Cop Camp, run by the Whitemarsh Township Police Department, gives 10- and 11-year-olds hands-on exposure to police work at no cost. Activities range from K-9 demonstrations and crime-scene exercises to a mock trial overseen by a local district judge, according to the township's program page.

This year's session drew outside visitors, too. Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Marc Fisher and PSP Aviation and Mounted units stopped in during the week, according to Trooper Paul Holdefer, a Troop K public information officer who posted about the visit.

Sgt. Michael Kolar of the Whitemarsh Township Police Department is the listed program contact.
