Whitemarsh families looking for one last summer cool-down before school starts can head to Cedar Grove Park on Thursday, Aug. 20, where Spring Mill Fire Company No. 1 will turn its Ladder 45 into what the company calls "one BIG sprinkler."
The free event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and is a partnership between Spring Mill Fire Company and Whitemarsh Township Parks & Recreation. Kids and families are encouraged to bring towels and wear swimsuits.
The evening doubles as a chance to meet the volunteer firefighters from Station 45 who respond to emergencies across Whitemarsh. The township promoted the event on X on Aug. 18, describing it as an opportunity to "meet volunteers who protect the community."
Spring Mill's volunteers are no strangers to Cedar Grove Park. On July 2, the company brought trucks to the park to cool off summer campers, posting afterward that members "turned their hoses into the best sprinkler in town, giving everyone a chance to run, laugh, and play in the water."
Thursday's event is the second in the township's Sprinkler in the Parks series this summer. The first was held Aug. 6 at Miles Park with Barren Hill Fire Company, according to the township's Fire Marshal/OEM Instagram page.
