Riverbend Environmental Education Center's annual Shiverfest returns to its 30-acre Gladwyne preserve on Saturday, Oct. 3, with five hours of fall activities for families.
The festival runs from 3 to 8 p.m. at 1950 Spring Mill Road. Haunted and candy trails wind through the woods, and the lineup includes pony rides, a petting zoo, a bubble show, an insect and circus show, live music, face painting, tree climbing, a bounce house and fall crafts.
Food trucks, local treats and adult brews round out the evening.
Tickets cost $38 for adults and $33 for children ages 3 to 13. Children under 3 get in free. Discounted tickets are available for SNAP, EBT and PA ACCESS cardholders, according to a Colonial School District announcement. Families experiencing financial hardship can also inquire about reduced prices.
Shiverfest doubles as a fundraiser for the center's nature education programs. Riverbend said on its event page that every ticket, sponsorship and donation supports its work providing free nature education to children. The preserve, open dawn to dusk year-round, features meadow, woodland, stream and pond habitats.
