Ten Plymouth Whitemarsh softball players earned 2026 All-Area recognition after the Colonials posted the best season in program history, winning 19 games and reaching the PIAA Class 6A state quarterfinals.

Sophomore catcher Gia Bono and senior designated hitter Anna Powel earned First Team spots, according to The Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media All-Area teams published Saturday, August 1. Freshman outfielder Lori Flannery was named to the Second Team, while sophomore pitcher Liv Brodzinski and senior pitcher Emma Kelly received Honorable Mention.

Bono, who also earned SOL Liberty first-team and Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association Class 6A second-team recognition, posted a .385 batting average with a .556 on-base percentage, six home runs, 24 RBIs and 24 walks. On May 5, she hit three home runs in a single game against Hatboro-Horsham, capping the day with a grand slam in the seventh inning.

Powel, a University of Rochester commit, finished with a .337 average, five home runs, 33 hits and 26 RBIs. She delivered a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning of the Colonials' May 22 upset of top-seeded North Penn in the District 1-6A quarterfinals, a game Brodzinski dominated with a complete-game, five-hit shutout.

That 3-0 win over the Knights at Towamencin capped a wild stretch. PW had beaten Council Rock North 4-3 in 11 innings in the second round just days earlier.

"It's been great," Powel told the Times Herald after the Colonials' season ended June 4 in the state quarterfinals. "My freshman year we went and lost our first round of states. It's been nice going to the second round, even going farther in districts is great. The tight-knit group that we have really made it so much more special."

The senior class of Powel, Joslyn Perez and Emily Dobrowolski won three straight SOL Liberty Division titles, a feat the program had not accomplished since its only previous league championships in 1999 and 2008. Coach Mike Perez said in June that the group's winning percentage sat around .750 with 66 career victories.

Flannery, just a freshman, showed her potential in the PIAA first-round win over Northampton on June 1, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Brodzinski pitched PW to a 3-1 victory in that game.

The season ended June 4 with a 2-1 loss to Haverford in eight innings at Spring-Ford Area High School in Royersford. But the Colonials' All-Area honorees return three underclassmen next spring: Bono, Brodzinski and Flannery will anchor a roster that now expects deep playoff runs.
