Ambler's annual Oktoberfest returns Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, with organizers expecting upwards of 30,000 visitors to pack Butler Avenue for two days of live music, food and family activities.
The festival matters to Blue Bell and Fort Washington residents because Ambler functions as their de facto downtown. Liz Wahl Kunzier, Ambler Main Street manager, described the borough that way in a Sept. 21 interview with The Reporter, citing surrounding-area residents as a key part of the expected crowd.
Friday evening runs 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday opens at 11 a.m., with live music from 12:30 to 9:30 p.m. and vendors wrapping up around 6 p.m. Butler Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Race Street for the duration.
Six acts are confirmed: the Choke Artists, Cover Me All Stars, The Stinks, Hindsight Fitz Magee, Philly Funk Authority and Brass Pocket. Kids can find face painting, games and a bouncy castle. Adults get live performers and libations along the avenue.
Wahl Kunzier said the festival has been part of Ambler's event calendar for decades and has grown steadily. She called the 2026 edition likely the biggest yet, noting that some longtime attendees miss the smaller feel of earlier years.
Turnout hinges on the forecast, Wahl Kunzier said. "If the weather is beautiful, we could be mobbed. If it's not beautiful, we could not be mobbed."
Shops and restaurants along Butler Avenue will stay open during the festival. Wahl Kunzier said organizers hope first-time visitors discover a store they have never noticed and return to shop on a quieter day.
She also hopes to screen Phillies postseason games at the festival, as organizers did during last year's Red October run.
