Plymouth Township residents have two new reasons to get out this fall: a free outdoor screening of Pixar's "Soul" on Friday, Sept. 18, and a beginner calligraphy workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 29, both organized through the Greater Plymouth Community Center.

The Movie in the Park event starts at 7 p.m. at Community Center Park, 2903 Walton Road in Plymouth Meeting. No tickets needed. The screening is part of the GPCC's Performances in the Park series, which brought concerts and movies to the same venue throughout the summer.

The second event, Ink Night: Hello Pumpkin, runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Greater Plymouth Community Center, 2910 Jolly Road. Participants will learn modern calligraphy basics and create a hand-lettered 4-inch faux pumpkin to take home. The class is open to adults 18 and older, requires no prior experience and includes all materials plus a take-home calligraphy kit. Pre-registration is required through the township's online recreation portal.

The program description bills the workshop as beginner-friendly, aimed at people who don't already have perfect handwriting.

Hello Pumpkin is the first in a three-session Ink Nights series. Two more classes follow: Gather & Give Thanks on Monday, Oct. 19, and Merry & Bright on Wednesday, Nov. 18, both from 6 to 8 p.m. at the same location.

In 2024, more than 345,000 patrons visited the Greater Plymouth Community Center for activities ranging from fitness classes to outdoor entertainment, according to Plymouth Township's spring 2025 newsletter.
