An update on Plymouth Township's $2.3 million Harmonville firehouse construction tops the agenda when the Emergency Services Board meets Thursday, Aug. 20, at 4 p.m. at the Township Building, 700 Belvoir Road.
The session is the board's first since May 21 and brings together police, fire, ambulance and emergency management leaders for a quarterly check-in on public safety operations.
The agenda posted by Plymouth Township lists eight items under new business: a construction update, fire marshal update, police department update, individual reports from Harmonville Fire Company and Plymouth Fire Company, a Plymouth Ambulance update, an emergency management briefing and miscellaneous matters.
The construction update comes as the township continues work on the new Harmonville Fire Company Station 2 firehouse, the largest single capital project in Plymouth Township's 2026 budget. As of May 2026, the township council was still processing change orders for the rebuild, including mechanical work by Integrity Mechanical, Inc. and general contracting by E.R. Stuebner.
The township's 2026 fire and emergency management budget totals $2,083,135, a 15.7% increase over the 2025 figure of $1,800,456. Transfers to the fire companies rose to $400,000 this year from $230,000 in 2025.
The ESB is a quarterly oversight body that convenes Plymouth Township police, both volunteer fire companies, Plymouth Ambulance, the fire marshal and a township council representative. Police Chief John Myrsiades typically provides the police department update at board meetings.
At the board's May 2024 session, participants included fire marshal Mike Matusheski, who also serves as emergency management coordinator, Harmonville Fire Company President Mike McGuigan, and Plymouth Fire Company President Shelly Simpson, among others. Current attendees have not been confirmed for Thursday's meeting.
The agenda includes a public comment period. The next ESB session is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m.
