Germantown Academy's Shyna Patel has made the 3,000-meter racewalk her personal showcase. The Fort Washington student won her fifth consecutive gold medal in the event at the 2026 AAU Junior Olympics, held Aug. 1-8 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Patel was one of four gold medalists from the Ambler Olympic Club, which sent 92 athletes to the national meet and came home with 27 medals.

"I'm super happy to get to do what I love with such supportive parents, teammates, and coaches," Patel said, according to The Reporter. "I can't wait to continue racewalking and see where this takes me."

She wasn't alone.

Wissahickon High School senior Jack Clement matched Patel's gold, winning the 17-18 Boys 3,000-meter racewalk in 16:33.48. Gavin Rodriguez added a javelin title in the 15-16 Boys division with a throw of 184 feet, 10 inches.

The fourth individual gold went to Cameron Glenn, an Upper Dublin High School student who won the 15-16 Boys Decathlon with nine new personal records, including first-place marks in javelin (158 feet) and pole vault (12 feet).

In all, 15 AOC athletes earned 22 individual medals: four golds, five silvers and 13 finishes from fourth through eighth place. Five relay squads also medaled, including a bronze from the 15-16 Girls 4×400 team of Alasia Jenkins, Nnenna Ibeh, Keira Tomlinson and Ava Edwards, and another bronze from the 17-18 Boys 4×800 team of Nathanael Meister, Raphael Francis, Darren Rafa and Sebastian Marquez-Ferber.

Silver medalists included Emery Sutton (14 Girls 1,500 and 3,000 meters), Tessa Taggart (15-16 Girls 800 meters), Saiin Patel (14 Boys 3,000-meter racewalk) and Gregory Wilson, a Montgomery Elementary School student who won silver in the 9 Boys Triathlon and also earned fourth in the 9 Boys 800 and 1,500 meters and sixth in the high jump.

Thirty AOC athletes finished in the top eight across 27 events, earning All-American status. The club qualified 120 athletes at the AAU Region 2 meet in July at Millersville University, where it also won the team trophy.

Now in its 60th year, the Ambler Olympic Club was founded by Larry Wilson and Leon Hill and draws more than 250 youth members from Philadelphia, Montgomery and Bucks counties. Head coach Mike Howard said the results reflect the coaching staff's work with athletes who represent local communities on a national stage.

Thirty All-Americans from a single club, five straight golds for one racewalker, and a 60-year legacy still producing national-caliber athletes out of the Philadelphia suburbs.
