Osaka Hibachi Express, a counter-service Japanese restaurant, has opened at the Whitpain Shopping Center in Blue Bell.

The restaurant is now serving hibachi, sushi and poke bowls at 1510 DeKalb Pike, Unit A1, in Whitpain Township. Diners order at the counter, then sit down to eat, Around Ambler first reported.

What's on the menu

Hibachi plates come with mixed vegetables, fried rice and a house salad. Single-protein options start at $13.50 for chicken and run up to $19.95 for scallop, according to the restaurant's online menu. Two-protein combos range from $16.95 to $21.95, with the NY Strip Steak & Scallop combo priced highest at $21.95.

Sushi fans can choose combo platters priced from $10.95 for a vegetable roll combo to $22.95 for a sushi and sashimi combo. Poke bowls run $12.95 to $13.50. A kids bowl is also available.

The menu includes two location-themed specialty rolls. The Bluebell Special Roll features spicy crab meat topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail and spicy sauce for $12.95. The Osaka Special Roll pairs shrimp tempura and cucumber with salmon, tuna, spicy sauce and eel sauce, also $12.95.

Hours and how to order

According to the restaurant's website, Osaka Hibachi Express is open Monday through Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant is closed Tuesdays.

Dine-in and takeout are both available. Customers can also order online through Toast.

A LinkedIn post from Aug. 31 by Scott Hecht, who described the owner as a former colleague turned restaurateur, announced a soft opening at the location. The restaurant appears to have been serving customers for several weeks before Around Ambler's Sept. 30 report.
