The Seed Library at William Jeanes Memorial Library in Lafayette Hill will close for the 2026 season after Sunday, Sept. 13.

Gardeners who want to browse the library's seed collection can do so through that date. The library announced on X on Monday, Aug. 31, that the Seed Library would shut down for the year after Sept. 13. No reopening date for the 2027 season was given.

Seed donations will still be accepted after the closing date. The library asks that donors bring seeds only, not live plants.

William Jeanes Memorial Library, also known as the Nicholas & Athena Karabots Center for Learning, is at 4051 Joshua Road in Whitemarsh Township. The library holds a collection of more than 51,000 books and audiovisual items, according to Whitemarsh Township's website. On Sundays, the building is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Residents can call 610-828-0441 or visit jeaneslibrary.org for details about the Seed Library or other programs.

The Friends of William Jeanes Memorial Library will hold a two-day used book sale later in September. The sale runs Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the lower level community room at the library.

Cash only. Small bills are preferred.

All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library, a Plymouth Meeting-based group that supports library programs, services and membership passes. The Friends group organizes regular fundraisers to help sustain the library's offerings for Whitemarsh and Plymouth area residents.
