Seventeen Montgomery County artists will fill the Fine Arts Center Gallery at Montgomery County Community College's Blue Bell campus with works sized to mark a milestone: every piece measures exactly 30 inches by 30 inches.
The Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists opens its 30th Anniversary Exhibition on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell. The show runs through Saturday, Sept. 26. Admission and parking are free.
"Everything in the show is 30 inches by 30 inches, since it's our 30th anniversary," Deborah Northey, MCGOPA's co-gallery director and art show chair, told Mainline Media News.
The exhibition marks the guild's first show at MCCC. MCGOPA's home base is the 431 Art Gallery at the Upper Merion Community Center in King of Prussia, where it hosts several shows a year. The Blue Bell exhibition, hosted by the Montco Cultural Center, expands the nonprofit's reach into the heart of its home county.
The show features more than 30 new works, including paintings and photography, according to MCCC's announcement. MCGOPA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1996 by three artist friends. Over three decades, the guild has connected local artists through exhibitions, peer learning and collaborative projects. It also hosts open juried shows that invite both members and non-members to participate.
Northey said she is proud of the 17 participating artists, noting their different perspectives and the variety of work on display.
A free closing reception runs Thursday, Sept. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Gallery. No registration is required.
