7th Street Burger is hiring a general manager for its planned Plymouth Square Shopping Center location in Plymouth Township. The job posting signals the New York smash burger chain's Plymouth Township restaurant is moving toward opening.

A listing on Indeed.com, active as of Sept. 27, seeks a general manager for the location, MoreThanTheCurve reported. The chain is targeting a late 2026 or early 2027 opening at the Ridge Pike shopping center. No firm opening date has been set.

As we reported Aug. 26, 7th Street Burger signed a lease at Plymouth Square in July as part of a broader Philadelphia-area expansion. The Philadelphia Business Journal first reported the lease that month, along with a second location on the University of Pennsylvania campus.

The restaurant appears likely to take the space vacated by Federal Donuts & Chicken, based on timing and the size of the vacancy. Federal Donuts closed its Plymouth Square location around July 18 after just over a year in business. It had opened June 20, 2025. Parent company CookNSolo announced in July 2026 it would shutter six Goldie and Federal Donuts locations, citing uncertain economic conditions.

The shopping center's website still does not list 7th Street Burger as a tenant, and the specific suite has not been officially confirmed.

College friends Kevin Rezvani and Paras Jain founded 7th Street Burger in 2021 in New York's East Village. The chain has since expanded to locations in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Its menu centers on smash burgers with grilled onions, American cheese, pickles and house sauce on a Martin's potato roll, along with loaded fries and Impossible burger options.

The Plymouth Square spot is one of four Philadelphia-area locations in the works. The Fishtown restaurant at 1215 Frankford Ave. opened in late August. Locations in Rittenhouse Square and University City are also planned. The chain expects to hire 60 to 80 workers across all four restaurants, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Plymouth Square, owned by Brixmor, completed a $22 million redevelopment in 2024. The 234,709-square-foot center is anchored by Weis Markets, Planet Fitness and REI, and draws an estimated 2.8 million visits per year.

The general manager listing on Indeed remains the most concrete sign of progress toward opening.
