Plymouth Township's Zoning Hearing Board will handle only procedural business related to the 900 Conshohocken Road data center proposal at its Tuesday, July 28 meeting. The board will vote to formally continue the substantive hearing to Thursday, August 6, at 7 p.m. at Colonial Middle School, then adjourn.
No testimony will be presented, no evidence received, and no public comment taken on the data center application at the July 28 session, according to a township announcement posted Monday, July 14.
The vote is required because the ZHB's first hearing on the application, held Thursday, June 25 at Colonial Middle School, was continued on the record to July 28. A subsequent request to push the matter further gave parties more preparation time, but the board must still convene on the original continuation date to officially reschedule.
Developer Brian O'Neill's 900 Conshohocken, LLC is seeking a special exception to build a data center on the former Cleveland Cliffs steel plant site at 900 Conshohocken Road. Plymouth Township Council has publicly opposed the application. In a statement issued ahead of the June 25 hearing, council said it "intends to continue its opposition to the application before the Zoning Hearing Board" unless sufficient health and safety safeguards are incorporated into an enforceable agreement.
Thousands of residents have signed petitions against the project, and activists sent billboard trucks through the area ahead of the June 25 hearing, according to Patch.
